Esther Tan

Managing Director

Barrister (Middle Temple 1990)

Esther is the Managing Director of the firm since 2020 during COVID and managed to evolve the firm within the last 4 years to recruit new talent into the firm and maintain the growth. Esther is a barrister of 34 years call and a member of Middle Temple. She worked as an “articled clerk” since 1988 with Howard Killin and Bruce in civil litigation and family law and licensing after graduating from the University of Buckingham. She was then offered a senior legal adviser position with HMCTS . During her time at the courts, Esther dealt with a wide variety of legal services, including civil work as well as criminal and family advice to the courts. She led the family adviser role for Norwich for a few years as well as head of the Licensing and Betting, and Gaming department As with her accredited trainer’s qualification. she proceeded to train and deliver new legislation to staff and magistrates at various training sessions and in facilitating workshops within the sessions. She led and initiated a countywide listing policy in the allocation of courts in the 1990s producing a Working Manual for staff to deal with procedures in the re-organization of the courts’ listing in Norfolk as well as being a probation liaison within her supervisory roles.. She was recruited into the work shadow scheme with Judge Downes for a week at the Crown Court. before going back into private practice.

Timothy Worthington-Chapman

Timothy is the Finance director of the firm and is qualified since 2002 as a Chartered Building Surveyor and a member of the RICS with a legal background in Construction law. Timothy was previously attached to an international pharmaceutical company as the Human Resource General manager in Norfolk and Suffolk. Timothy is highly experienced in staff management, budgeting and finance work as well as dealing with any advice relating to building issues in the conveyancing and planning department. Timothy is qualified in Construction law and agriculture work and is particularly meticulous in all aspects of attention to detail while dealing with planning and building work as part of his project management for clients. He welcomes any apparent difficult issues as a challenge to his abilities and assists the firm with L:evel 3 building surveys and assessment of boundary disputes.

Amanda Pearson

Practice Manager
Human Resources

Amanda has been with the firm for more than 10 years as the Human Resources and Facilities Practice Manager. She is a highly regarded manager within the firm where she deals with all aspects of day to day running of the firm and any staff issues arising, ensuring that staff work in a supportive environment and feel valued. Amanda also deals with assisting the COLP and COFA in discharging their duties for compliance and she supervises all members of staff within their employment. Amanda facilitates and steers the firm to achieve its objectives and is responsible for liaising with the finance director in the management of budgets and workflow.

Caroline Riley

Caroline joins us as Head of conveyancing bringing with her more than her personality and conveyancing expertise. Caroline qualified as a Chartered Legal executive specialising in Conveyancing and Family Law. Caroline is highly experienced in marketing and dealing with conveyancing transactions within clients' expectations of deadlines. Apart from being a charming and outgoing personable lawyer, well-liked by both clients and members of staff, she is very focused on achievements within her department and deals with all aspects of conveyancing, residential and commercial. Caroline has more than 10 years of experience in Conveyancing working in the past with estate agents and local solicitors' firms.

James Hunt

Conveyancing Fee Earner

James is an experienced and client-focused Conveyancing Fee Earner who manages all aspects of residential property transactions from start to finish. His commitment is to guide clients smoothly through their property moves . The role includes freehold/leasehold sales, purchases, transfer of equity, and remortgages. James understand that buying or selling a home is a significant life event, and providing clear, supportive communication and dependable service is an important aspect of his daily routine. Aswathy Sivadas

Aswathy qualified as a solicitor in January 2023 before moving from London to join us in our conveyancing department in August 2023, after which she worked on complex residential and commercial conveyancing matters, offering exceptional client service and helping many happy clients to secure their dream property. Aswathy believes in being multi-disciplined and since October 2024, Aswathy has worked as the Assistant Solicitor in the Family Department. She works on divorce and financial remedy matters, child arrangements matters and other family matters including instructions in relation to occupation orders. Aswathy also assists from time-to-time in the dispute resolution department, particularly in relation to landlord and tenant disputes, due to her extensive property knowledge.

Lauren Plant

Head of Accounts

Lauren heads the accounts department and is an indispensable member of staff with the firm. Lauren has extensive financial experience through a previous career working in banking. She supports the firm's lawyers in their fee-earning duties and is commended for her organisation and proactive approach to her work. Lauren also effectively liaises with clients and third parties to ensure appropriate billing.

Stuart Johnson

Stuart qualified as a solicitor in 1977 and has spent his career in both private practice and working for large corporations, in the UK, the US, the Netherlands and Germany. Along the way, he studied for and was awarded a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) and an MSc in Computing, for which he studied with the Open University part-time. In 2015 he decided to focus his energies on private client work and joined Goodwin Cowley in October 2023 as a consultant solicitor dealing with Wills, probate, powers of attorney and trusts. Stuart has more than 10 years in the Private Client sector and have extensive experience in corporation and commercial areas of work.

Enya Goddard

Enya joined the firm in July 2025 in a key support role within our busy legal team. She​primarily works within the Family and Dispute Resolution departments, but assists fee earners across all practice areas, developing a wide basis of legal knowledge. Enya accepted the position of Trainee Solicitor in January 2026 and is due to begin her SQE studies in April 2026, with a view to sitting her SQE1 in January 2027, and eventual qualification in March 2028. Enya is a dedicated, enthusiastic member of the team and we are excited to support her learning journey at Goodwin Cowley.

Jenna Sarson

Jenna works alongside Esther Tan in the dispute resolution and litigation department as well as in commercial and family work. She enjoys contentious work and helping parties to reach a resolution, or to strongly assert her client's position where necessary. Outside of work, Jenna enjoys going on long walks with her labrador, Cedric, cooking meat and vegetarian based dishes, travelling, reading and learning Spanish. Jenna has been with the firm since August 2023 and qualified as a solicitor in January 2026. She is a valuable part of the firm's future outlook.

Kim Hubbard

Legal Assistant

Kim is highly experienced in public relations and with her bubbly and knowledgeable personality she brings a wealth of experience in dealing with front of house. Kim is the first stop for clients and helps to onboard across all departments. She is able to offer guidance in respect of client enquiries before allocating the matter to the appropriate fee earner. Kim has strong empathy for all walks of clients and is renowned for her common sense approach and her ability to translate complex advice which is commended by clients, lawyers and third parties alike.

Daphne Hammond

Daphne is a highly experienced legal assistant in the Probate and private client department. Daphne has more than 18 years in this area of law assisting various solicitors in the past. She adopts a steadfast and measured approach to her work in dealing with the intricacies of estate administration. Her secretarial skills and experience is invaluable to the private client department in progressing cases to conclusion for clients. Daphne provides substantial expertise in supporting team members in administrative duties.
