Esther Tan
Esther is the Managing Director of the firm since 2020 during COVID and managed to evolve the firm within the last 4 years to recruit new talent into the firm and maintain the growth.
Esther had worked as an “articled clerk” since 1988 with Howard Killin and Bruce after graduating from the University of Buckingham and trained under Robert Killin, Senior Partner. She was then offered a senior legal adviser position with the Norwich Magistrates Court after qualifying as a barrister in 1990. During her time at the courts, Esther was exposed to a wide variety of legal services, including civil work as well as criminal and family advice to the courts.
She was the lead family adviser for Norwich for a few years as well as head of the Licensing and Betting, and Gaming department and probation liaison duties within her supervisory roles.
As with her accredited trainer’s qualification. she proceeded to train and deliver new legislation to staff and magistrates at various training sessions and in facilitating workshops within the sessions. Part of her responsibilities as a senior adviser for HMCTS, she led and initiated a countywide listing policy in the allocation of courts in the 1990s producing a Working Manual for staff to deal with procedures in the re-organization of the courts’ listing in Norfolk.
Esther had worked as a senior legal adviser to the Luton and Suffolk courts for two years while she was attached to Norfolk. She was recruited into the work shadow scheme with Judge Downes for a week at the Crown Court.

Timothy Worthington-Chapman
Timothy is the Finance director of the firm and is qualified as a Chartered Building Surveyor with a legal background in Construction law.
Timothy was previously attached to an international pharmaceutical company as the Human Resource General manager in Norfolk and Suffolk.
Timothy is highly experienced in staff management, budgeting and finance work as well as dealing with any advice relating to building issues in the conveyancing and planning department. Timothy is qualified in Construction law and agriculture work and is particularly meticulous in all aspects of attention to detail while dealing with planning and building work as part of his project management for clients. He welcomes any apparent difficult issues as a challenge to his abilities.

Amanda Pearson
Amanda had been with the firm more than 10 years and is a highly regarded manager within the firm where she deals with all aspects of day to day running of the firm and staff issues arising. Amanda also deals with assisting the COLP and COFA in discharging their duties for compliance and she supervises all members of staff within their employment.
Amanda facilitates and steers the firm to achieve its objectives and is responsible for liaising with the finance director in the management of budgets and workflow.

Caroline Riley
Head of Conveyancing and Director
Caroline joins us as Head of conveyancing bringing with her more than her personality and conveyancing expertise. Caroline qualified as a Chartered Legal executive specialising in Conveyancing and Family Law. Caroline is experienced in marketing, is a charming and outgoing personable lawyer, well-liked by both clients and members of staff. Equally, she is very focused on achievements within her department and deals with all aspects of conveyancing, residential and commercial.

Aswathy Sivadas
Aswathy is a solicitor who had a wealth of conveyancing experience before she joined us from London where she deals with all aspects of residential freehold and leasehold property sales and purchases. Her appetite for thorough investigation into her cases provide clients with the assurances that once instructed she will carry out the best possible outcome to progress their sale and purchase. Aswathy is not averse to difficult issues arising from the conveyancing process.

Stuart Johnson
Stuart qualified as a solicitor in 1977 and has spent his career in both private practice and working for large corporations, in the UK, the US, the Netherlands and Germany. Along the way, he studied for and was awarded a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) and an MSc in Computing, for which he studied with the Open University part-time. In 2015 he decided to focus his energies on private client work and joined Goodwin Cowley in October 2023 as a consultant solicitor dealing with Wills, probate, powers of attorney and trusts.

Serra has a wealth of experience in the legal sector in Turkey as a qualified barrister and is now about to qualify as a solicitor in the UK. Serra is methodical and a committed family lawyer who deals with a wide range of family clients, mainly covering all aspects of financial remedy proceedings. As a result of her dedication to attention to detail, she had progressed cases successfully within the expectations of her clients.

Jenna is a trainee solicitor within the private client department and deals across all departments, assisting in private client work in drafting wills and LPAs and taking instructions from clients on estate administration. Jenna is enthusiastic and a committed member of staff who is also very popular with staff and clients alike.

Natasha had been a conveyancer for the past 8 years and is on Level 4 of her Conveyancing and Law practice course. Natasha is highly experienced in dealing with agents and clients alike and adopts a sensible and calm approach for clients and third parties throughout a stressful experience when buying and selling a property for all.

Senior Private Client Lawyer
Stephanie joins us with more than 15 years of private client experience and acts as a fee earner within the firm for all private client work. Stephanie likes dealing with clients and guiding them through a difficult and stressful process, particularly when a loved one passes, and bereavement requires a steady and emphatic approach from those instructing to deal with the estate. Steph’s area of law encompasses Wills, Probate, Letters of Administration, Intestacy, Powers of Attorney, Court of Protection applications and Change of Name Deed.

Kim is a bubbly and knowledgeable Legal receptionist who has a wealth of experience in dealing with front of house in her experience before she joined the firm. Kim deals with the first stop for clients and is able to offer guidance in respect of their enquiries before sifting the legal enquiries to the lawyers. Kim has strong empathy for all walks of clients and had been complimented on various occasions for her common sense approach to issues arising when she is approached by both clients, third parties and members of staff.

Daphne Hammond
Daphne is a highly experienced legal assistant in the Probate and private client department. Daphne has more than 18 years in this area of law assisting various solicitors in the past .She brought with her a steadfast and measured approach to her work in dealing with the intricacies of estate administration. Her secretarial skills and experience is invaluable to the private client department in progressing cases to conclusion for clients. As a member of the team, she contributes a substantial expertise in supporting the team members in administrative duties.

Julie is a meticulous member of staff who is the head cashier in the firm for more than 25 years and is invaluable in the reconciliation of the accounts each month which provides clearance for the auditors year by year to verify the firm’s compliance record.
