HOW CAN WE CONTINUE TO HELP YOU DURING THE CORONAVIRUS CRISIS?

IF WE ARE PREPARING WILLS FOR YOU:-

  • 1. We will take your initial instructions over the telephone or by email;
    2. We will produce a draft will for you to check and ensure it reflects your wishes;
    3. We will post or email the draft document to you;
    4. We will wait for you to confirm any amendments needed or get your approval to the draft as provided;
    5. If necessary, we will have a further telephone appointment;
    6. We will make up an engrossment (bound original copy) of your will;
    7. We will send out the engrossment to you with detailed signing instructions in respect of the execution of the will for you to follow, provided you can sign safely and within government guidelines and restrictions;
    8. Once you have executed you will, we will ask you to return the original will to us by post, so that we can check that the document is correctly executed;
    9. If required, we will then store your executed will in our Strong Room and will provide you with a copy of your executed will for your own records.

IF WE ARE PREPARING POWERS OF ATTORNEY FOR YOU:-

  • 1. We will take your initial instructions over the telephone or by email;
    2. We will produce the documents for you;
    3. We will post or email the documents to you, together with a detailed explanation of relevant parts for you to read through and ensure you understand;
    4. We will have a further telephone appointment with you if you need further information or advice;
    5. We will at same time provide signing instructions, asking you to sign, provided you can do so safely and within government guidelines and restrictions;
    6. We will then ask you to return the document, so that we can check it is properly executed;
    7. The document will then be dealt with by your certificate provider (which we will discuss in your initial interview), again provided this can be safely and within government  guidelines and restrictions;
    8. The document will then need to be returned to us, again for checking the certificate if necessary;
    9. We will then send the document to your attorneys for them to also sign, again provided they can do so safely and within government guidelines and restrictions;
    10. We will then await the return of the documents either for final checking or registration at the Office of the Public Guardian;
    11. If required, we will then store the documentation in our Strong Room and will provide you with a copy for your own records.
